Competitive vs Casual

Hey guys, I was going to make my first real post regarding something else, but I really wanted to clarify what I mean when I call myself a competitive gamer. I don't play on the competitive scene in any games (yet), and I don't think I'm the best there is at anything. But I am determined, and that's how I define being a competitive gamer.

In Rapture... a Metroid chooses.

I've been playing Diablo 3. No shock horror there - it's quite addictive!

I've gotten to level 60, halfway through Act 1 Inferno and my interest is starting to wane; maybe it was yesterdays 7 hour session that broke the camel;s' back on it all but the climb again from here to Act 4 is a long one; no one's done it properly yet and with work commitments, friends etc it really looks a bridge too far.

A Sanctuary long ago.

So! Let's talk about games.

There's one out at the moment, you may have heard of it, it's called Diablo 3.

Years ago, years and years, the predecessor to this game, Diablo 2 laid it's foundations and spewed forth the armies of hell into my world. Admittedly I wasn't there for it's release, I did not take part in the dedicated grind to get from level 90 to 99. It was a game I picked up by accident, through a friend, as so often happened when you were in high school without any real money.

Stay a while and listen...

Oh blogs! There's so much you want to say and you just pray people read it.

But I've heard that if you throw enough blogs at a wall sooner or later it starts sticking.

So let me tell you what we're about here, who we are and what we want to do to you.

I'm Clinton (see introductory post below) and I'm a storyteller. I want to play through other peoples stories so I can read them in my own way and then tell them in my own way. I want to share my experiences and then want you to want to have your own. This is why I love games.

Oh hai there!

Hi my name is Beck *waves*. Currently I'm supposed to be writing an essay for uni, but because I'm so good at procrastination I decided this will be a better use of my time :P

I suppose you could call me a gamer, however I am one of those people who used to excessively play DOS, PS1 and Gameboy games back in the day, and now that I'm an "adult" with "adult responsibilities" I find I have much less time to game (and as a broke uni student much less money as well!)

Is anyone there?

Hey. My name is Brandon and Video Games are a large part of my life. My friends are gamers, my brother's a gamer and I work for a video game store, so I'm surrounded by both games and gamers at work and at home.  This helps me get a lot of different views from my customers as well as my friends and family.

I'm a competitive gamer at heart. I would love to play games professionally, given the time. Winning is a huge part of gaming to me. I know that sounds bad, so let me explain before you press the back button on your browser the same way I normally would.

Hey, Listen!

Hi. My name's Clinton and I love playing games.

I'm glad to have that out of the way.

I used to buy a lot of games. I'm trying to stop and get the most enjoyment as I can from old games.

There's a good reason why and I can tell you it. Old games are good, there are quite a number of them which are firmly nestled in my memory as great places I've been in life.
